Ballet Intro 3 & 4 years old
It is a creative dance class for pre school children. The prgoram is emphasized to develop creativity of this age group. "Ballet terms" are not used in this class, however, they will learn the basics of ballet elements from the shapes and imaginative movements. This class will also enhance their musicality, special orientation, flexibility, strength, and social skills. Use of various props and different types of music will help them to explore their imagination.
The class contents has wide range of ballet, tumbling, and tap. We also provide basic anatomy information to help the students to understand the body structure.
RAD Graded Levels
*Each level is determined by RAD, not by the academic grade level
*Age is only a guide. Actual appropriate level for each child will be determined by the teacher.
Pre Primary 5 years old & up
RAD syllabus starts from this level. It is still emphasized with "fun" to learn classical ballet. The students will be expected to understand more precise rhythm differences in music and movements compare to Ballet Intro. They will start learning basic positions in ballet and become capable to focus towards what they are trying to achieve in this level. They will start working on more of their fine motor skills, and learning the concept of choreography.
They will enjoy some tap and tumbling when the time allows. They will also learn some basic anatomy.
Primary 6 years old & up
This is a continuous program from Pre Primary. The class contents have less props, but more complicated patterns of movements. Coordination is a challenge at this level. They will learn various formations with more difficult rhythms. The ballet positions that they learn are still basic and simple, however, they will be expected to go into the details of techniques. They will learn a dance in this text book.
Grade 1 to 5 7 years old & up
Higher Grade 6 to 8 11 years old & up
"Classical Ballet training" starts from Grade 1. The students will seriously learn the technique of classical ballet with fully use of ballet terminologies, yet RAD syllabus uniquely consisted the program. The contents are divided into 3 sections; "Classical Ballet Technique", "Free Movement", and "Character". This will make the class atmosphere to be more fun, and provide richer training than classical ballet only.
Classical Ballet Technique: Fundamental training to become a ballet dancer. The training will enhance a good posture, recognizing small muscle groups to strengthen. The student will learn each step with care in Graded syllabus.
Free Movement: It is emphasized with the dynamics of the natural movements. This will enhance more of the students' feelings and mood, spacial awareness, and stamina. Without considering so much of "turn out", the students will be able to express themselves.
Character: This is a stage form of folk dance. The student will wear a pair of character shoes with a heel, and a character skirt. Character skirt is a black long skirt with ribbons at the bottom. The students will learn various different steps from different countries. This will help full stage ballet in the future like Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty. There are always the sections of dances from different countries such as Poland, Hungary, and Spain. Musicality is important in this section, and learning various steps which are different from classical ballet steps are always challenge to the students.
All sections have dance and the students will learn all the dances.
